Pirates in baseball: Jeff Hoffman earns win against favorite foe Orioles, blows kiss to them

by | Apr 14, 2025

Jeff Hoffman loves playing against and beating the Baltimore Orioles.

The ECU alum and Toronto Blue Jays pitcher got the win in a 7-6 finale on Sunday. He came on in the ninth inning and pitched two innings, giving up a hit with four strikeouts. He left a Baltimore runner in scoring position by forcing a strikeout and flyout.

The Blue Jays grabbed the lead in the top of the 10th inning and Hoffman did the rest. He forced a groundout and struck out the last two batters to end it. For good measure, he blew a kiss to the Orioles’ dugout as he celebrated the win.

The Orioles and Braves turned down signing Hoffman in the offseason due to concerns about his pitching shoulder.

Hoffman is now 2-0 with a 0.96 ERA.
