Jeff Hoffman hasn’t had the chance to pitch much lately. However, he made the most of an opportunity on Sunday.

Hoffman struck out all three batters in the ninth inning to secure a 5-3 win for the Toronto Blue Jays against the Boston Red Sox. It was his 18th save of the season and helped the Jays improve to 45-38.
He had not pitched since June 25, primarily because he either wasn’t needed or the Jays lost. It was also his first save since June 10 against the St. Louis Cardinals.

- Carson Whisenhunt, Sacramento RiverCats (Giants): Got the no-decision in 6-2 win over Oklahoma City. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up two runs on six hits with five strikeouts and three walks. Team trailed 2-0 when he left and scored three in the seventh to take the lead.
