by | Jul 29, 2025

It’s been a productive summer baseball season for rising ECU baseball stars Alex Peltier and Colby Wallace.

Peltier earned 2025 Cal Ripken Sr. Collegiate Baseball League Championship Series Most Outstanding Player honors. He helped the Bethesda Big Train win the league’s title for the third consecutive time. They won the title on Monday after beating the Alexander Aces.

In the series, Peltier batted .500 with five hits, two stolen bases, six RBI, five runs and a homer, his first of the season. For the season, he hit .342 (41 for 120) with 35 runs, seven doubles, two triples and 22 RBI in the regular season.

Wallace helped the Newport Gulls win the New England Collegiate Baseball League Southern Division championship on Monday. Their postseason tournament will be played later this week.

Wallace also made a diving catch during Monday’s game on a ball that was hit, flipping it in time to second base to get the runner.

For the season, Wallace is batting .227 (25 for 110) with 18 runs, six doubles and 13 RBI.

Newport is the eight-time NECBL champion.
