ECU baseball adds former Tennessee pitcher to 2026 lineup

East Carolina’s baseball program has added another name to its 2026 roster from the transfer portal.

Luke Payne, a left-handed pitcher who played at Tennessee this past season then announced he was entering the transfer portal, posted to Instagram on Friday that he’ll become a member of the Pirates.

Payne only pitched 7.1 innings in two seasons with the Volunteers. He pitched 3.2 innings in both seasons and allowed two runs total, both in 2025 with 14 strikeouts.
