ECU’s Ethan Norby among homegrown talent on USA Baseball team

by | Jul 3, 2025

There are five baseball stars from North Carolina on USA Baseball’s team. One of them is East Carolina baseball rising junior Ethan Norby.

Norby grew up in the Cary area and knows a lot about the organization. Along with NC State stars Jacob Dudan, Ryan Marohn and Anderson Nance, along with Wake Forest’s Cameron Bagwell, they comprise a talented group of college stars.

“Growing up living here, I’ve gotten the opportunity to play here in Cary a couple of times, and I’ve always wanted to put on the Team USA jersey,” Norby told USA Baseball’s Kaileigh Grieb. “I’m just excited.”

He pitched for the Stars in the June 30 game in Cary, which the Stripes won, 3-0. He went one inning of relief and gave up a run on two hits with three strikeouts over five batters faced.

He told Grieb that his advice to young players who might get the chance to play on one of the younger squads is to be true to yourself.

“Don’t worry too much about what other people think or say. Just put your head down, stay focused, work hard, and most importantly, enjoy the game. If you keep showing up and putting in the effort, good things will come,” Norby said.

The team had another game between the Stars and Stripes at Segra Stadium in Fayetteville on Thursday and a game on the Fourth of July in Kannapolis against the Appalachian League Select Team.

After that, it’s off to Japan for the 45th USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Championship Series. Six games will be played vs. the Japan Collegiate All-Star team at three different stadiums in Japan. Those games will be played July 8, 9, 11, 12 and 13.
