While the CFL began its season last week, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers had Week 1 off.
Thursday night, East Carolina alum Stanley Bryant and the Blue Bombers will take the field. They will host the British Columbia Lions in the kickoff to Week 2. Three other games will be played Friday and Saturday ahead of the Father’s Day weekend.
Bryant is a starter on the offensive line for Winnipeg and is regarded as one of the CFL’s greats at his position. The Blue Bombers have been dealing with injuries on the OL, which could keep Bryant and the rest of the team busy.
Winnipeg will also be without quarterback Zach Collaros, who will be out due to a suspension. Chris Streveler will make the start.
The BC Lions will be without ECU alum Jeremy Lewis. The linebacker is out with an injured foot, according to the team’s website.
