ECU football alum Zay Jones is in a battle for playing time and maybe more with the Arizona Cardinals.
His experience makes him a good candidate for the third wide receiver spot the Cardinals have. USA Today’s Cardinals Wire has WR3 as one of the top battles to watch in training camp. It reports while Jones would make the best fit, players like Greg Dortch and Xavier Weaver may have something to say about that.
Cardinals Wire writer Jess Root writes in part, “Dortch is dynamic when he gets the ball in his hands. Wilson in the slot and Jones on the outside gives the Cardinals both speed on the outside (Harrison and Jones) and size at all three spots (all are at least 6-2).”
The second week of training camp is now underway and Root said Jones also has something to prove after being hampered by injuries in 2023 and being suspended for five games in 2024 under the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
“Once again, there are positive reviews, but after an eight-catch season, if he doesn’t work out for the Cardinals, is anyone else to going to get him?” Root writes.
