Where does ECU grad rank among possible NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year candidates?

by | Jun 17, 2025

The NFL season is slowly starting to unwind with OTAs and mandatory camps happening or about to happen.

With that starts the buzz with how well this season’s rookie class will perform. Someone is ready, maybe more than one, to have a breakout rookie season and earn the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.

So, where does East Carolina alum and Dallas Cowboys’ rookie Shavon Revel Jr. rank? Since he’s recovering from ACL surgery and is likely to be placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list, his odds are not very good.

SI.com has New York Giants linebacker Abdul Carter, a Penn State grad, as the odds-on favorite at +250, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Revel is listed at +6000, tied for next to last among the rookies under consideration.
