East Carolina football alum and Pirate Radio host Holton Ahlers added another milestone to his pro career on Saturday.
He threw his first pro touchdown for the Arlington Renegades, a 2-yard pass to tight end Seth Green, in a 30-12 win over the Memphis Showboats. Last week, Ahlers rushed for his first pro touchdown.
Offensive lineman Garrett McGhin and receiver Isaiah Winstead, both ECU alum, also played. Winstead had no catches.
The Renegades improved to 4-5 despite not qualifying for the postseason. The season ends on June 1 at the San Antonio Brahmas.
Skip Holtz’s Stallions win
Former ECU coach Skip Holtz’s Birmingham Stallions held on for a 26-22 win over the Michigan Panthers.
Holtz’s team improved to 6-3 and has qualified for the postseason.
Cornell Powell
J.H. Rose High School grad Cornell Powell and the DC Defenders take on the Houston Roughnecks on Sunday at 4 p.m. Powell is currently the UFL leader in touchdowns caught.
He had two touchdown catches on four receptions last week in a win over the Renegades. He now has 21 catches for 314 yards and five touchdowns.
