Zach Agnos had a better outing Wednesday in the Colorado Rockies’ 13-2 victory over the San Diego Padres.
He struggled in his previous two outings but was much better on Wednesday. He went two innings, giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts while dropping his ERA to 4.32. His strikeouts matched what he had in Spring Training before Wednesday.
It was his seventh outing on the mound for the Rockies during Spring Training. For the most part, he’s been pretty effective. Since he’s still with the team, that bodes well for his chances of making the squad on Opening Day after being in camp as a non-roster invitee.
Shawn Armstrong starts for Rangers
Shawn Armstrong got a rare start for the Texas Rangers during Wednesday’s Spring Training game with the Cincinnati Reds.
He went one inning, giving up a hit but nothing more. It dropped his ERA to 2.25 for the spring. He was one of nine pitchers the Rangers used in a 4-3 win over the Reds.
Armstrong has started 16 games in his career, sports an 11-8 record and eight saves in 347.1 innings.
