SI: Jeff Hoffman will lead American League in saves

by | Jul 19, 2025

SI.com gave out some of its predictions for the second half of the baseball season, which impacts fantasy sports.

On the heels of Cal Raleigh winning the Home Run Derby (check out our story on the connection with him and ECU baseball), SI also had predictions about Aaron Judge and Paul Skenes, along with Toronto Blue Jays closer and ECU alum Jeff Hoffman.

Dave Holcomb, who wrote the article, has Hoffman finishing with the most saves in the American League. Carlos Estevez currently leads with 25 saves, but Hoffman has picked up two straight and sits at 23 after Saturday’s outing.

On Friday, Hoffman struck out all three batters he faced. On Saturday, he gave up a hit and struck out one in the ninth to secure the 6-3 win over the Giants.
