Pirates, Wolfpack set for Aug. 28 season opener

by | Jan 23, 2025

The ECU football team is officially on the clock for the 2025 season opener.

NC State posted on its social media about the season opener with the Pirates. The official date is August 28, which is a Thursday. Originally, the game was slated for two days later, on August 30.

While no official time has been set, it is likely to be played sometime between 7-8 p.m., and very likely will be broadcast on national television like ESPN in some capacity.

The game will be the first for both teams since the Pirates beat the Wolfpack, 26-21, in the Military Bowl last December. It was Rahjai Harris’ 86-yard run for a touchdown with 1:33 to go – ECU’s longest play of the season — that sealed the Pirates’ comeback win. Harris earned MVP honors in the game.

An official announcement about the time and television will be released at a later date.
