The ECU baseball alum and Toronto Blue Jays No. 2 prospect dazzled again on the mound, this time in his debut with the Vancouver Canadians. He didn’t get the decision but did strike out 10, walk three and give up two runs on two hits — one a homer — over four innings. Eugene rallied for a 6-4 win.
Yesavage, 21, came to Vancouver with a 2.43 ERA and 55 strikeouts over 33.1 innings with Dunedin. He struck out seven or more in his final five games with Dunedin, including a season-high 12 a week ago.
Tuesday, he gave up a two-run homer in the first inning, the second straight game he’s given up a dinger. After giving up a single and walk to start the second, he forced a pop up and struck out the next two to get out of a jam.
Yesavage struck out two in the third and all three in the fourth to end his night.
Yesavage’s new teammate, fellow ECU alum Carter Cunningham, went 0-for-2 with three walks while playing at first base.
