Two ECU alums had good individual days on Sunday.
Texas Rangers reliever Shawn Armstrong got his fifth save of the season with some quick work in a 4-2 win over the Washington Nationals. He struck out a batter in the eighth inning to stop a rally. He lowered his ERA to 3.51 with the outing.
St. Louis Cardinals star Alec Burleson batted 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI in a 7-3 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. He singled and scored in the fifth to cut the Dodgers’ lead to 4-1.
His batting average rose to .296.
