Pirates in baseball: Marlins drop first game to Dodgers, Clayton McCullough’s last team

by | Apr 29, 2025

It was a reunion of sorts for the Miami Marlins in Monday’s game with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The game, which the Dodgers won 7-6 in 10 innings, was the first for ECU alum and Marlins Manager Clayton McCullough against his old team since he took the Miami job. McCullough was the first base coach for several years.

McCullough got his World Series ring from former teammate Freddie Freeman before the game.

The Marlins tied it at 5-5 when Dane Myers hit a grand slam in the sixth inning. Fellow ECU alum Connor Norby came on as a pinch hitter and drew a walk before Myers’ blast.

The Marlins dropped to 12-16 with the loss.

See below to find out what the rest of the Pirates in baseball did on Monday.
