ECU alum Gavin Williams was back on the winning track Monday night.
Williams gave up two runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts and two walks as the Cleveland Guardians opened their series with the New York Yankees with a 6-4 victory. It was his first win since April 10 against the White Sox and came after taking a loss to Baltimore on April 16.

The two runs he gave up came in the seventh on a homer from Jasson Dominguez. That eventually led to Williams hitting the showers with a 6-2 lead.

Williams settled down after a rough first inning, where the Yankees loaded the bases before Jazz Chisholm Jr. was called out on strikes to end the threat. Williams struck out two in the second and three in the fifth.
