East Carolina baseball alums Connor Norby, Clayton McCullough and the Miami Marlins at least got off to a good start on Monday against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Norby had an RBI single in the second inning that drove in Miami’s first run and tied the game at 1-1. However, the Phillies broke through with two runs in the ninth and pulled away for a 5-2 win.
Norby finished 1-for-4 and sits with a .242 batting average after Monday. The Marlins, under the direction of first-year manager and fellow ECU alum McCullough, dropped to 28-42 with the loss.
