Pirates in baseball: Alec Burleson helps Cards beat Pirates after baby news

It was a busy Friday for ECU alum and St. Louis Cardinals 1B/DH Alec Burleson.

Not long after he and his wife announced the birth of their first child in October, he helped the Cardinals beat the Pirates, 2-0. He finished the game 1-for-2 with a RBI after drawing a bases-loaded walk for the team’s second run of the game.

Jacob Jenkins-Cowart

He had a RBI double that drove in two runs in the seventh inning to help Jupiter beat Dunedin 5-4 on Friday.

He was 1-for-3 overall to raise his batting average to .267 for the season.

Ryan McCrystal

He went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI in a 15-10 win over Clearwater.

He singled and scored in the second and doubled in two runs in the third. He raised his batting average to .286
