ECU head football coach Mike Houston is going with Jake Garcia has his starting quarterback.
Houston made the announcement after Saturday’s second scrimmage ahead of the season opener at home against Norfolk State.

“We pulled the guys in Thursday and told them that Jake Garcia will be starting quarterback,” Houston said after practice Saturday. “Katin, you know, handle it with extreme class and character, which you were expecting to. They both have had great preseasons, and they both are capable of going out and playing at a very high level. And we’re very, very fortunate to have both of them.
“We’re going to need both of them. And, you know, Jake is going to need Katin. Katin is going to need Jake, because that competition between the two is going to continue to push each other. But we’re pleased with the way that room is played.”
