The rookie camp was one of many held by NFL teams to get a look at those players who were picked in the draft, along with those trying to make the squad and second-year players who were on the practice squad. According to SI.com, there were 12 undrafted free-agent signees, in addition to Harris, and nine drafted rookies, six whom have signed with the Bills.
Harris wasn’t picked by the Bills but got a call from the team not long after the draft ended to try out for the squad.
According to SI.com, the Bills were looking at three running backs and two wide receivers overall. Players that make a quick impression could be signed to a deal or to the practice squad. If they are signed, they will join the team for training camps, which usually start in late July and early August.
He wasn’t the only former ECU Pirates football player on the field this weekend. Winston Wright Jr. was among 34 players working out at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ rookie camp.
“Pirate Radio Live” will have a recap of the Bills’ minicamp with Harris later in the week. The show airs each Monday-Friday from 3-6 p.m.
