J.H. Rose High School alum Cornell Powell helped the DC Defenders wrap up their first UFL title by beating the Michigan Panthers, 58-34 on Saturday.

Powell, who came in as the league leader in touchdown receptions with seven, added to that total with a 19-yard scoring grab in the second quarter. It gave DC the lead for good with 9:30 left in the half at 15-13.
Powell finished with two catches for 26 yards, part of a 21-for-28, 390-yard outing by former Carolina Panthers quarterback Jordan TaāAmu. He earned MVP honors with the win.
