The first-round pick by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 2024 draft has been nearly lights out. In four starts, he has a 3.12 ERA in 17.1 innings with 28 strikeouts and eight walks. According to JaysJournal.com, he’s struck out over 40% of the batters he’s faced this season.
His last outing was just as good as he recorded 10 or more strikeouts for the second straight game and was perfect going into the fourth inning.
JaysJournal.com reports that if he had fewer walks, there would likely be no question as to whether he’s ready to be promoted to Double-A.
Thursday’s start against Clearwater, which features former ECU star and current reliever Eric Ritchie, will go a long way to determining what’s next in Yesavage’s future.
