Giants’ addition of Justin Verlander bolsters pitching staff that may include ECU alum soon

by | Jan 15, 2025

The San Francisco Giants’ addition of Justin Verlander to its starting rotation will likely prove to be a big boom this season.

The Giants have a lot of young and talented arms to its rotation. Websites like SI.com and Justbaseball.com believe Verlander’s addition can only make that rotation stronger.

Among the pitchers who could either make the opening-day squad or contribute quickly in the season is ECU Alum Carson Whisenhunt. Both websites are high on him and think he could crack the rotation soon.

SI.com reports in part,If the unfortunate trend of not staying healthy continues, the Giants can at least rest easy knowing that they have some depth with legitimate upside to turn to in a pinch.”

JustBaseball.com specifically mentions Whisenhunt, saying, “Carson Whisenhunt is one of the Giants’ most exciting young arms and is the organization’s no. 3 prospect according to MLB.com.
