When Florida and East Carolina meet on Friday in the first round of the Conway Regional, we’re likely to see two young arms on the mound starting.
Aidan King is an 18-year-old freshman who has performed remarkably during the season for the Gators. Ethan Norby is a 20-year-old sophomore who has been strong at times on a staff full of young pitchers.
Though Florida has not announced its pitching rotation as of early Thursday, there’s no doubt King (6-2, 2.76) will pitch, very likely against Norby (7-5, 3.65).
“Often times you see someone makes an error, and then it’s a four pitch walk and the inning kind of gets away from you,” Florida baseball coach Kevin O’Sullivan said to The Gainesville Sun. “But he just kept it together. Truly remarkable honestly, to keep his composure like that. But he’s shown time and time again that he’s beyond his years with his maturity and be able to focus.”
