Former J.H. Rose star makes DC Defenders roster

by | Mar 22, 2025

Turns out former J.H. Rose High School star Cornell Powell did make the roster for the UFL’s DC Defenders.

The team announced the news of its roster cut to 50 players on Friday. Initially, it was reported Powell, a receiver who played at Clemson and had stops with the Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks, was cut from the roster. The team corrected its mistake shortly after reporting the initial cuts.

James Larsen was among those who reported that the league and team sources confirmed the mistake. Defensive end Nelson Ceaser was announced as being released.

The defenders host the Birmingham Stallions on March 30 to open the UFL season.
