Former J.H. Rose star Cornell Powell signs to play in UFL

by | Mar 3, 2025

Just a few days after being released by the Seattle Seahawks, former J.H. Rose High School and Clemson star Cornell Powell has a new home to play football.

On Sunday, Powell signed to play with the DC Defenders of the UFL.  He’s had stints with the Kansas City Chiefs before being cut and later signing with the Seahawks. He was with the Chiefs practice squad and had two touchdowns in the 2024 preseason.

PFNewsroom’s James Larsen reports, “Cornell comes into the UFL as one of the wideouts with plenty to prove. He’s got a true opportunity to be a starter for Reggie Barlow and this DC offense. Heading into camp, it’s another brilliant pickup from GM Von Hutchins.”
