ECU baseball player Parker Byrd was part of a special presentation on MLB.TV on Thursday for a young boy to receive a prosthetic leg like Byrd has.
Byrd and Challenged Athletes Foundation Co-Founder Bob Babbitt talked about the organization and the good it does to help people like Byrd get a prosthetic leg so they can participate in sports. JJ Reeder lost part of his right leg in a shark attack.
On Thursday, Byrd — who will begin hosting his own podcast on Pirate Radio — talked about the good the organization does and how he met Reeder, who is from the Charlotte area. The two met during a game last season, not long after Bryd became the first NCAA Division I college baseball player to appear in a game with a prosthetic leg. They developed a special bond that has led to Reeder getting his special prosthetic leg, which costs around $15,000, without having to pay for it.
