SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The East Carolina women’s basketball team was defeated by conference leader UTSA, 60-46, on Wednesday evening in the UTSA Convocation Center. It was a chaotic game at times, which saw four technical fouls but ultimately saw UTSA win their 14th consecutive home game.

The Pirates (13-12, 5-8 AAC) got out of the gates hot, taking a 13-12 lead after a quarter of play. It would be tough sledding from there, UTSA (21-3, 12-1 AAC) jumping out to the lead with a 17-4 second quarter and never looking back.

The Roadrunners, who have been the class of the American this season, looked the part as they expanded their lead to as many as 20 in the second half. Jordyn Jenkins looked the part of a Player of the Year for the hosts as well, finishing the day with 23 points and six rebounds to lead her team.
Jenkins was joined in double figures scoring by Sydney Love who poured in 15 points to go with four assists. Cheyenne Rowe nearly notched a double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds.
The Pirates, conversely, were led by Amiya Joyner’s 18 points and eight rebounds in the game. The Farmville native continued her climb up the program record book, passing Tonya Hargrove for fourth on the all-time rebounds list where she now sits at 822 career boards. She also moved up to 23rd on the all-time scoring list with now 1,082 career points.
Joyner finished as the only Pirate in double figures, but the team did get good minutes from Jade Tillman who finished the day with eight points and eight rebounds, both career highs.
