East Carolina Men’s Basketball has officially announced the signing of guard Patrick “Paddy” D’Arcy on Friday morning.

D’Arcy comes to Greenville after a season with the Adelaide 36ers in Australia’s top pro league, the NBL, where he was the youngest player to hit the floor this season. D’Arcy followed up his 2024-25 36ers season as a member of the Sturt Sabres in the NBL1 where he averaged 7.4 points and was awarded the Steve Johansen Trophy for best player under 23 years of age. The Australian native recently helped lead his national team to a gold medal in the 2024 Albert Schweitzer Tournament, averaging 4.7 points on 41 percent shooting from beyond the arc in seven games played.

“We are thrilled with the signing of Paddy D’Arcy,” head coach Michael Schwartz said. “He’s a terrific student with an equal work ethic. His positional size and perimeter shooting immediately strengthens our team. Paddy has been playing at a very high level in Australia alongside several former NBA players. His addition strengthens every category the Pirates hold valuable.”

In the 2024 U20 National Championships, D’Arcy averaged 17.9 points and led the nation in three pointers made at over 40 percent while simultaneously leading the competition in steals. In the championship game, he recorded 24 points, four rebounds, four steals and three assists on 77 percent shooting from the floor in South Australia’s win over Australian Capital Territory.

The prior year the future Pirate averaged 17.1 points per game at the U18 National Championships (2023), again having led the nation in made threes while shooting above 40% from long range.
