The recent departures of more than 10 players from the East Carolina baseball team to the transfer portal have created a lot of news in the past week. It’s also created some openings on the roster. Former Liberty University pitcher Joseph Webb is taking advantage of that opportunity. He announced on social media on Tuesday that he would be playing for the Pirates in 2026.
“Heading east #committed” was all Webb had to post, along with photos of an ECU logo and Clark LeClair Stadium, to get the word across. He’ll join the Pirates and help fill the void left by the departure of players who have announced since the transfer portal opened they would be leaving.
Webb pitched 46.1 innings this past season for Liberty, mostly in a relief role. He gave up 18 earned runs on 28 hits with 51 strikeouts and 20 walks. He was 2-4 with two saves and a 3.50 ERA.
