Could Shavon Revel be who the Commanders are looking to draft?

by | Feb 3, 2025

It seems like nearly every NFL team has a good reason to pick Shavon Revel Jr. in the NFL draft. That includes the Washington Commanders.

There have been stories posted about other teams interested in the former ECU star cornerback. HogsHeaven.com gives its reasons why Revel, who is recovering from ACL surgery after tearing his during the 2024 season, is a valued pick.

Strengths

  • Plus size and length for the position (32.5” arms, almost 80” wingspan)
  • Ideal athletic profile
  • In man coverage, shows quick feet and fluid hips to stay in phase with receivers
  • Understanding, awareness, and feel in zone coverage is impressive
  • No hesitation in run support and is a solid tackler
  • Multiple blocked kicks add special teams value

Weaknesses

  • Can be late reacting to quicker receivers, especially on in-breaking routes
  • Has to be more consistent turning his head and locating the ball on downfield routes
  • Not a lot of reps where he uses a punch to disrupt receivers in press coverage
  • Significant injury; recovering from torn ACL
