Now that the Chicago Bears are making Ben Johnson their next head coach, the next step is addressing the needs of the team.
FanSided.com wrote about the need to find some quality free agents for next year’s team. With the possibility of Keenan Allen signing with another team, ECU Alum and free agent Zay Jones was discussed as a possible signing.
“Jones was suspended for the first five games of the season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct penalty, and he missed an additional week with a hamstring injury. After that, he caught only eight balls in 11 games, so there’s certainly a lot of risk with counting on him to be a contributor.”
Jones finished with eight catches for 84 yards. He had four catches for 46 yards in the season finale against the 49ers. The previous season with the Jaguars, he had 34 catches for 321 yards and two touchdowns in nine games due to injury. His first year with the Jaguars, he played all 16 games, recording 82 catches for 823 yards and five touchdowns.
