Cornell Powell, DC Defenders play in XFL Conference Championship

J.H. Rose High School grad Cornell Powell and the DC Defenders (6-4) take the field against the St. Louis Battlehawks (8-2) on Sunday in the XFL Conference Championship.

Powell leads the league in touchdowns with seven catches. He has had four touchdowns in two games, two against Houston and two against Arlington.

The two teams played last week with St. Louis winning 13-8. Powell did not have a catch. In Week 3, a 27-15 win by DC, Powell had three catches for 21 yards and a touchdown.

The game will be played Sunday at 6 p.m. on FOX. The winner will face either Michigan (6-4) or Birmingham (7-3), coached by former ECU coach Skip Holtz. Birmingham is the defending champion. Those two teams play in the UFL Conference Championship.
