Cam Hayes leaving ECU, entering transfer portal

ECU men’s basketball guard Cam Hayes is leaving East Carolina and is entering the transfer portal, according to On3.com.

Hayes came to ECU two seasons ago from LSU and NC State before that. He is from Greensboro and was a highly-rated player in 2020, No. 65 nationally and No. 15 overall as a point guard. He was also the No. 5 player out of North Carolina.

Hayes averaged 9.2 points, 4.0 assists and 2.8 rebounds this past season. He also had 30 steals and shot 34% from the floor. He started 29 of the team’s 33 games.

He had a season high 20 points against NC A&T in the eighth game of the 2024-25 season.
