The Texas Rangers’ bullpen has had its ups and downs this season.
The team started the season uncertain about who would be the closer. For the most part, that problem has been solved. But who is trustworthy out of the bullpen remains a bit of a problem.
NolanWritin.com’s Jeff Speicher writes for the Rangers’ Fansided website. He put together a list of the team’s relievers and who is reliable and who is not. He based it on the movie “Meet the Parents” and Robert De Niro’s “circle of trust.”
Among the relievers is East Carolina baseball alum Jeff Armstrong. According to Speicher, he’s “outside the circle of trust (for now).”
“Armstrong is knocking on the door to get into the circle of trust if he can illustrate a little more control over his arsenal moving forward,” Speicher wrote.
In 15 games this season, he’s pitched 16.2 innings with 12 hits, six earned runs and a homer given up. He’s walked eight and struck out 17 with a 3.24 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP.
