UTSA was the talk of the AAC during the baseball season.
About the only thing the Roadrunners didn’t do was win the AAC Tournament. The East Carolina Pirates did that after beating Tulane.
However, UTSA did reach the Super Regional, falling to UCLA with a trip to Omaha and the College Baseball World Series on the line. Now, with UTSA’s seson over, head coach Pat Hallmark is suddenly a big deal again.
His contract at UTSA ran out on June 1. UTSA AD Lisa Campos said the school was working with Hallmark on a new deal, reports KENS5.com’s Nate Ryan.
“My contract is up,” Hallmark said in a statement to KENS 5. “I want to stay in San Antonio, but I want the program to be supported better than it has been.”
Hallmark has a point about financial support. Per NCAA records made available for KENS5.com’s report, UTSA had a baseball budget of $1.73 million. That was second lowest among teams in the Super Regional, with Murray State the lowest with $858,107.
