The news, along with details Add pitcher Brad Pruett to the list of East Carolina baseball players heading to the transfer portal.
College Baseball Central’s Andrew Riedell reported the news to his X account, saying in part, “Pruett started off as the closer and then found his way to the Friday night starter and then bounced back and forth. He was solid for the Pirates this year in 66 innings he had 70 Ks.”
The sophomore from Texas played at Oklahoma before coming to ECU. He was 5-6 with a 5.32 ERA. He played in 28 games, starting five with three saves over 66 innings.
The news, along with details of the others who have left the school, has not sit well with Pirates head coach Cliff Godwin. He posted on his own X account on Friday, “Our system is so BROKEN! We have coaches at P4 schools texting our players directly who are not in portal! And we have proof!”
