MLB.com: Blue Jays plan to maximize Trey Yesavage pitching prospects

by | Mar 26, 2025

The Toronto Blue Jays have high hopes for pitcher Trey Yesavage. At the same time, they don’t want to push the ECU alum too much.

Yesavage suffered a collapsed lung before last year’s AAC Tournament. He pitched against Wake Forest in the NCAA Tournament but was held out of activity after being drafted No. 20 by the Blue Jays.

MLB.com reports Toronto wants to push Yesavage along as quickly as possible but don’t want to rush him either. Instead, they want him to go at his own pace.

“We picked him for a reason,” Blue Jays director of player development Joe Sclafani told MLB.com. “He has now stuff, as they say. So it’s more about getting him out there, getting him in a good routine and focusing on those things so that he pitch hopefully into September. We’re still working out the details on how, but we like to let these guys go show what they can do and prove the reason they’re here for a little bit.”
