Although RJ Felton wasn’t chosen for the two-day NBA draft, he does have a future in the league.
The Indiana Pacers signed Felton and two other players — Connecticut center Samson Johnson and Creighton guard Steven Ashworth — to undrafted free agent contracts, according to IndyStar.com.
The contract is called an Exhibit 10 deal, which is a one-year, non-guaranteed minimum deal. The newspaper reports it’s likely Felton will be busy this summer with workouts and games during the NBA Summer League. It’s also possible Felton could be on the team’s G League roster.
Felton averaged 13.8 points in his last three seasons. He was a starter and first team All-AAC selection as a senior. He averaged 18.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.2 steals as a senior. He also made 37.6% of his 3-pointers (86 of 229).
In addition, former ECU star Javon Small was drafted in the second round by the Memphis Grizzlies with the 48th overall pick. He played his last season at West Virginia.
