At least Harold Varner III is having some fun.

The ECU golf alum shot a +1 on Friday and is tied for 42nd after the first round of the LIV Golf UK by JCB. He’s seven shots behind co-leaders Adrian Meronk and Joaquin Niemann, who each shot -6.

Varner had birdies on No. 1, 3 and 12 and bogeys on No. 5, 6, 10 and 14. He and his 4Aces GC squad of Dustin Johnson, Thomas Pieters and Patrick Reed finished at even par and were tied for 11th in the team scoring.

At the end of the first round, Varner got the chance to show off his passion for the Blackburn Rovers, an English soccer team based in Blackburn, Lancashire, England. Varner is a season-ticket holder of Blackburn.

In fact, he posted a couple of videos to his social accounts this week about his fondness for the football club.
