Trey Yesavage’s rise from minors to Blue Jays is historic

by | Sep 23, 2025

Trey Yesavage’s rise from the minors and Low-A Dunedin to the pros has been well documented.

In addition to the news of his ascension, Sportsnet also had a neat graphic that described the ECU baseball alum’s rise. Now, the Dunedin Blue Jays have their own version of Yesavage’s rise.

You’ll remember that Yesavage didn’t pitch in the minors after he was chosen No. 20 in the 2024 draft by the Toronto Blue Jays. Instead, the pitcher didn’t take the mound until this season. His numbers included:

Dunedin: going 3-0 with a 2.43 ERA and 55 strikeouts over 33.1 innings

“The stuff is impressive—the command, the action and life on his pitches, the elite fastball,” said Dunedin Manager Gil Kim. “The more impressive thing about Trey is the person. There’s a presence and a confidence when he’s on the mound, a level of confidence that tells you he’s about business, beating you, (and) winning.”

After that came stops in Vancouver at High-A, New Hampshire in Double-A and Buffalo in Triple-A.

According to the Dunedin Blue Jays, “Yesavage became the first player in Dunedin’s Class-A era to reach the majors in the same season and just the 10th player across baseball since 2005 to pass through all four full-season levels before debuting. He was also the first Blue Jay from the 2024 draft class to reach the majors.”
