East Carolina baseball alum Trey Yesavage continued his good start by being named Florida State League Pitcher of the Week for April 29–May 4.
His minor league career has gotten off to a remarkable start with solid starts each time. Last Thursday, he got his first win by giving up four hits and striking out eight without a walk. He struck out six of the first eight batters he faced.
His first five minor league starts have resulted in a 1-0 record with 36 strikeouts over 23.1 innings with a 2.31 ERA and a 0.90 WHIP. He has struck out 28 in his last 15.2 innings.
Yesavage is one of two prospects who JaysJournal.com has heaped praise on with their performances so far. Arjun Nimmala has been on a hitting tear for High-A Vancouver, where fellow ECU alum Carter Cunningham plays.
