The baseball season is in full swing and stars are being made in the majors and minors.
While it’s still a 162-game season, some teams are already looking with interest to 2026. It could be because they are off to bad starts or just the excitement of seeing what their prospects will do next.
The Toronto Blue Jays are 9-7 and lead the American League East by .5 games over the New York Yankees. Their season has gone well thanks largely to ECU alum and closer Jeff Hoffman, who has two wins, three saves, 13 strikeouts in 9.1 innings, an ERA of 0.96 and a WHIP of 0.64.
In the minors, there is a bevy of talent waiting to make it to the majors, including ECU alum Trey Yesavage. He had another big outing on Sunday and, according to SI.com, is one of the favorites to move further into elite status in 2026.
“It will be interesting to see if the Jays organization attempts to enhance his extension this season as he starts at low-A Dunedin.”
