Multiple sources, including On3.com reported defensive lineman C.J. Sims is the first transfer portal pickup for the University of North Carolina and new head coach Bill Belichick. The news broke Thursday.
Sims, a West Craven High School grad, announced recently that he would leave ECU. The sophomore had 37 career tackles, 2 sacks and 2 forced fumbles at ECU. He was among 15 players who had recently announced they would leave ECU for the transfer portal.
Last Sunday, he announced he was going to transfer to Wake Forest. A day later, Wake head coach Dave Clawson said he was stepping down. That forced Sims to announce he was re-entering the transfer portal.
