More ECU players enter transfer portal

by | Dec 9, 2024

Monday was the first official day college football players were eligible to enter the transfer portal. There are now at least 15 football players who were on the ECU roster who have announced on social media they are entering the transfer portal.

Starting cornerback Isaiah Brown-Murray saw action in each of the Pirates’ games this season, registering 41 total tackles, 30 of them solo. He also had a tackle for loss, an interception for 35 yards and seven pass breakups.

Linebacker Zakye Barker was an all-confence selection this past season. He had 86 total tackles, 29 solo. He had 12 tackles for loss, two sacks and two forced fumbles.

Another big defensive name to announce on social media was C.J. Mims, who played at West Craven High School. He had 23 tackles this season, four of them solo. He also had 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble.

Another local talent, No’Tavien Green — who graduated from New Bern High School — announced his intentions on Monday. He had one tackle this season against Norfolk State.

On Sunday, linebacker Gregory Turner posted his decision to social media. He had one tackle against Temple this season.

The news of those players leaving brings the total of players who were on ECU’s roster up to at least 15. On3.com tracks such moves. On Monday evening, they added Nick Slogik, a tight end from Pennsylvania. Receiver Ryan Stephens also announced he is leaving.

J.D. Lampley, who came to ECU to play football and baseball, said he will remain in school but not play football.

The others who have announced their intention on social media include:

— WR Kerry King

— OL Amarie Archer

— OL Kenny Walz

— DE Demoris Jenkins

— CB Daylyn Diston

— RB Javious Bond
