SI: Big things could come this season for Blue Jays’ Trey Yesavage

by | Jan 4, 2025

ECU alum and Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Trey Yesavage hasn’t officially thrown any innings of pro ball. However, the expectations for him are already sky-high in 2025.

SI.com reports, “Trey Yesavage has yet to make his professional debut, but the Toronto Blue Jays’ most recent first-round pick still has plenty of hype surrounding him entering 2025.”

The Blue Jays selected Yesavage in the first round of the 2024 MLB Draft. He was 11-1 with a 2.02 ERA, 0.868 WHIP and 14 strikeouts averaged per nine innings in 2024 for ECU.

Several outlets report Yesavage was trying to add a curveball or cutter to his pitching mix. That makes him even more valuable as the top prospect in the Blue Jays’ farm system.

While he’ll start the season in the minors, there’s no telling how quickly he could move up the farm system. Could he pitch in the majors this season? Only time will tell.
