Shawn Armstrong comes on in relief, picks up win for Cardinals

Shawn Armstrong was in the right place at the right time to pick up his third victory of the season on Sunday.

Lars Nootbaar’s two-out, two-run single in the top of the ninth inning helped the St. Louis Cardinals defeat the Minnesota Twins, 3-2. Armstrong (3-2) came on in relief in the eighth inning and got a pop-out and groundout to end a scoring threat by the Twins.

Nootbaar’s heroics came in the top of the ninth.
