Pirates in baseball: Josh Moylan part of big night in Hudson Valley win

ECU alum Josh Moylan was part of a big night for Hudson Valley in a 10-7 win over Wilmington on Wednesday.

Moylan, playing at first base, was 1-for-5 with four RBI and a bases-loaded double that drove in three runs in the third inning, giving Hudson Valley a 4-1 lead.

He also hit into a groundout that scored another run in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 8-1.

Jeff Hoffman

Jeff Hoffman got his fourth save of the season despite giving up a home run in a 3-1 win over the Braves.

He did record a strikeout to end the game, a record 19th the Jays got against the Braves. Toronto took two of three from Atlanta.

Gavin Williams

The ECU alum took his first loss of the season as the Guardians fell 9-1 to the Orioles.

He pitched 6.2 innings, gave up five runs (all earned) on four hits with four walks and four strikeouts. His record dropped to 1-1 with a 4.58 ERA. He did give up a grand slam to Jackson Holliday.

  • Connor Norby, Miami Marlins: On 10-day injured list with oblique.

  • Alec Burleson, St. Louis Cardinals: Was 1-for-4 as first baseman in 4-1 win over Astros. He also stole his second base of the season.
  • Shawn Armstrong, Texas Rangers: Got second hold of the season in 3-1 win over Angels. Pitched 1.1 innings, gave up one hit and struck out two to lower his ERA to 3.68.
  • Gavin Williams, Cleveland Guardians: See above
  • Jeff Hoffman, Toronto Blue Jays: See above
  • Clayton McCullough, Miami Marlins (manager): Team lost 6-2, dropped to 8-9 on the season.

Triple-A

  • Carson Whisenhunt, Sacramento RiverCats (San Francisco Giants): Did not pitch in 4-1 loss to Salt Lake.
  • Zach Agnos, Albuquerque Isotopes (Colorado Rockies): Did not pitch in 9-6 loss to El Paso.

Double-A

  • Carter Spivey, Akron Rubber Ducks (Guardians): Did not pitch in 4-0 loss to Erie.
  • Trey Benton, Akron Rubber Ducks (Guardians): On season-ending disabled list

Single-A

  • Trey Yesavage, Dunedin Blue Jays (Blue Jays): Did not pitch in 18-2 win over Lakeland
  • Carter Cunningham, Vancouver Canadians (Blue Jays): Did not play in 5-2 loss to Eugene.
  • Josh Moylan, Hudson Valley Renegades (Yankees): Was 1-for-5 with four RBI and a bases-loaded double that drove in three runs in a 10-7 win over Wilmington. He also hit into a groundout that scored another run.
  • Josh Grosz, Hudson Valley Renegades (Yankees): Did not pitch in 10-7 win over Wilmington.
  • Tyler Bradt, Peoria Chiefs (Cardinals): Took the 8-7 loss in 11 innings to Cedar Rapids. Pitched the last two innings, gave up a run on a hit with two walks and two strikeouts.
  • Jacob-Jenkins-Cowart, Jupiter Hammerheads (Marlins): Was 1-for-2 with two walks as the DH in a 7-1 loss to Daytona.
  • Ryan McCrystal, Daytona Tortugas (Reds): Was 0-for-4 as the DH in a 7-1 win over Jupiter.
  • Wyatt Lunsford-Shenkman, Modesto Nuts (Mariners): Placed on full-season disabled list on April 15.
  • Erik Ritchie, Clearwater Threshers (Phillies): Did not pitch in 7-1 win over Palm Beach.
