Pirates in baseball: Jeff Hoffman picks up sixth save in Blue Jays’ win

ECU alum Jeff Hoffman got his sixth save of the season in a 4-2 win over the Yankees on Friday.

The Blue Jays got three runs in the top of the ninth inning after trailing 2-1. Hoffman then came in and nailed the door shut, getting the first two outs before giving up a double. He then got the last out on a pop-up to drop his ERA to 1.35.

The Yankees announced Saturday morning the game would be moved to a doubleheader on Sunday due to the threat of bad weather.

Trey Yesavage

Trey Yesavage pitched 4.2 innings, gave up two runs on a hit and two walks with 10 strikeouts. He left with the game tied at 2-2. Dunedin won 4-2 over Tampa in 10 innings. It was the second straight start where he was perfect in the first four innings with 10 or more strikeouts.

Josh Moylan

He played third base for Hudson Valley on Friday. He batted 2-for-3 with a RBI and run in 3-0 win over Asheville. He singled and drove in a run in the second inning and later scored to make it 3-0 in the inning.

  • Gavin Williams, Cleveland Guardians: Game with Red Sox rained out. Will play doubleheader on Saturday.
  • Jeff Hoffman, Toronto Blue Jays: See above
  • Zach Agnos, Colorado Rockies: Pitched 1.1 innings in 8-7 loss to Reds. He came on in the seventh inning and gave up a hit. His ERA remains at 0.00.
  • Clayton McCullough, Miami Marlins (manager): Marlins won 8-4 over the Mariners to improve to 12-13 on the season.

Triple-A

  • Carson Whisenhunt, Sacramento RiverCats (San Francisco Giants): Started and went three innings in 9-8 loss to El Paso. Gave up seven earned runs on nine hits with three walks and a strikeout. Gave up a grand slam in the third inning.

Double-A

  • Carter Spivey, Akron Rubber Ducks (Guardians): Game with Richmond rained out. Will play doubleheader on Saturday
  • Trey Benton, Akron Rubber Ducks (Guardians): On season-ending disabled list

Single-A

  • Trey Yesavage, Dunedin Blue Jays (Blue Jays): See above
  • Carter Cunningham, Vancouver Canadians (Blue Jays): Returned to the team after being on the Development List. Played DH and went 1-for-3 with a walk in 12-3 loss to Everett.
  • Josh Moylan, Hudson Valley Renegades (Yankees): See above
  • Josh Grosz, Hudson Valley Renegades (Yankees): Did not pitch in 3-0 win over Asheville
  • Tyler Bradt, Peoria Chiefs (Cardinals): Did not pitch in 13-4 loss to Quad Cities.
  • Jacob-Jenkins-Cowart, Jupiter Hammerheads (Marlins): Was 0-for-3 with a run scored and a walk in a 16-2 loss to Palm Beach.
  • Ryan McCrystal, Daytona Tortugas (Reds): Did not play in 11-2 loss to St. Lucie.
  • Wyatt Lunsford-Shenkman, Modesto Nuts (Mariners): Placed on full-season disabled list on April 15.
  • Erik Ritchie, Clearwater Threshers (Phillies): Pitched in the fifth and sixth innings in a 4-3 win over Fort Myers. He gave up a run on three hits with a strikeout.
