Jordan Riley scored a game-high 18 points as East Carolina snapped a four-game skid with a 68-56 win over UMES on Tuesday night inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.

Isaiah Mbeng and Corey Caulker both had season-highs of 14 and 12 points for the Pirates (3-5) who shot 8-of-17 from distance in the 12-point win. Vito Perkovic added eight points while Luke Davis grabbed eight rebounds off the bench.
Dorion Staples and Michael Teal each scored 10 points for UMES (4-7).
UMES jumped out to a fast start, scoring the first seven points of the game until Giovanni Emejuru’s free throw at the 17:25 mark put the Pirates on the board. The Hawks went ahead by as much as nine after Teal’s three put UMES up 10-1 before a 10-2 run from ECU pulled the Pirates within a point with 11:03 remaining in the first half.
Back-to-back baskets put UMES ahead 16-11 with 9:20 to go in the half but the Pirates slowly chipped away before taking the lead on a three-point play from Perkovic at the four-minute mark. The Pirates would close the half strong as well, scoring the final four points to take a 32-26 lead at the break.
ECU outscored UMES 20-10 over the first 10 minutes of the second half as ECU lead ballooned to as much as 20 en route to the win.
